With its spectacular scenery, Lakeside Cottages Resort has a beautiful location on Katchewanooka Lake in the heart of Kawarthas. The regularly pre-baited fishing area is easy to access within stepping distance, and you can fish right next to your cottage throughout your whole stay at Lakeside Cottages.

The season starts from mid May and continues all the way through October. Our knowledgeable angler Mike Williams, the previous owner of Lakeside Cottages who knows the lake and rivers well is now retired but still lives in the area, from time to time you may see Mike around and maybe available for advise tactics, bait, spots, etc. Mike has been well known for finding Carp for many Lakeside guests, and many guests achieved their personal best record with Mike giving top advices!

Carp to FORTY have been landed, and bigger fish are also presenting. On a good day you could expect to catch into double figures or more, with a good possibility to catch thirties or even forties among them.

Mike’s tips:

A really good strong catapult is A MUST, bring two with spare pouches and elastics ·Trevor Tomlin’s whopper dropper would be perfect for carp fishing
Carp mats are essential, make sure to bring them with you!

Tackle suggestions:

Bring strong sufficient carp hooks, bait runner reels and both braid and mono fishing line
Braid and mono can be purchased locally at reasonable prices
Bring plenty of inline method feeders and 2oz to 3oz leads

Bait suggestions:

A row boat is provided for baiting up for all of our guests
The fishing area will be pre-baited, but feel free to make and use your own maize mix
Boiled corn or boilies both work well
